Bio
As the AASHE (Association of Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, & Rating System) student intern, I am responsible for gathering data pertaining to campus sustainability from a variety of departments and implementing it into the SDSU STARS report. The STARS reporting system determines our sustainability ranking based on this data. Some campus initiatives and departments I retrieve data from include academic curriculum, research, event-planning, building energy, social diversity, financial investment, and human resources.
Sustainability origin story: I have always intrinsically valued nature and our planet. I love the ocean, plants, animals, being outdoors, and admiring the natural beauty our earth provides. My interest in the environment started in my high school biology class, but developed into a passion in AP Environmental Science. From there, I decided to pursue my education and career in sustainability. I knew I wanted to do everything in my power to make our world a better place for all. As I learn more, my motivation to conserve the environment, create a more equitable world, and improve the quality of life for all living things grows. I am grateful for the opportunity to help assist in creating tangible change within my community and work towards a more sustainable world.
