Bio
"As the Food and Compost Intern I help to oversee and maintain our Campus Composting Program (CCP) . My team partner and I collect compost from various office and building locations weekly and are working to expand the program campus wide. Part of the job also involves brainstorming ideas to spread the word on composting and come up with ways to get more offices, students, and staff involved in the program. I love how creative this job is and that I get to work “boots on the ground” carrying out our composting program and mitigating food waste on campus. Getting to drive around our office’s electric golf cart is a big plus, too!"
Sustainability Origin Story: "I’ve always had admiration and a sense of curiosity for the environment since I was a little kid. Growing up next to the ocean and being exposed to different natural environments enabled me to grow an interest in learning more about the environment and how to protect it. It wasn’t until I took an AP Environmental Science class in high school, though, that my passion for sustainability grew into something more serious. It made me realize how unsustainable and wasteful many aspects of our lives are, and I had to come to terms with the fact that the world needs to change. I’ve educated myself and my family throughout the years on different ways we can make sustainable changes in our own lives and encourage others to do the same. It’s been so fun leaning into my passion for sustainability all these years and constantly learning about how to make the world a greener place!"
