Bio
As the Office of Energy and Sustainability’s Green Office Intern, my main focus is to encourage office’s at SDSU to make catalyzing changes that help create a more sustainable office environment. Through our Green Office Certification Program, offices on campus can be involved in making a difference on campus. My role includes collaborating with office representatives to navigate through the process of becoming Green Office Certified at SDSU. To ensure a swift transition, I am tasked with scheduling meetings, answering questions, and coordinating walk-through assessments for our Green Office Certification program. I am constantly collaborating with my peers and other individuals who strive to create a more sustainable environment on campus. My goal for this program is to expand engagement and provide more opportunities/information for our participants to reduce their carbon footprint in the office.
Sustainability Origin Story: As a child I had luckily been exposed to traveling to some of the beautiful sites the US has to offer. It was only until I reached high school that I really got a better understanding of how our environment worked. Out of all the classes I took in high school, my Spanish class was the one that exposed me to the climate emergency. Although my Spanish teacher could have taught us anything, she made it an effort to spread awareness about Climate Change. After taking this class, I was concerned as to how I had never heard about this topic before, which led me to take an Environmental Science class the next year. Having gained more information on sustainability, I decided to commit to making a difference and chose to study it in college. Since moving to San Diego and having some powerful encounters with intelligent professors, I have developed a deeper passion for sustainability and the interdisciplinary traits it contains.
