Rylie Ridpath is currently a Sophomore at SDSU studying Sustainability. Rylie grew up in Colorado, where being outdoors and in the mountains was a defining aspect of her passion. Since declaring her Sustainability major, she's taken various actions to make her mark and share her passion for the planet.

As A.S Green Love Commissioner, Rylie works hard to organize Green Love events and initiatives. Through this position, she has significantly contributed to sustainability on campus and gained valuable experiences with it. Most recently, she helped write the public comment letter to the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) of SDSU’s Evolve Student Housing Project, a huge accomplishment that will make a direct impact to on-campus sustainability. She’s also been able to spread the word about sustainability, whether presenting to classes or tabling across campus. Rylie is currently helping to create a sustainability course designation, where a small leaf icon will be placed next to courses with sustainability embedded in the curriculum. This accomplishment will allow students to pick courses with a sustainability focus with ease– and hopefully bring more attention to sustainability overall!

Advice: “Being sustainable isn’t as challenging as everyone thinks. Many times people are overwhelmed by the idea of switching to sustainable habits, but making one small change or even changing your mindset can be incredibly impactful for our planet”.

Rylie’s unwavering commitment to sustainability is inspiring, and we can’t wait to see the difference she will continue to make. To learn more about Rylie’s sustainability efforts on campus, attend SDSU’s 3rd Annual Sustainability Summit and see her in action during the Student Panel section!
