Bio
As the Food and Compost Intern, I work alongside our other compost intern, Olivia, to manage and expand the Office Compost Program. We have routine pickups in which we collect compost from different offices, weigh them, and record that data. We carefully sort through the organic waste to make sure everything is compostable. I also work with Olivia to promote and educate students, faculty, and staff at SDSU about composting and the benefits of doing so. I want to spread the message about how to compost correctly and why it’s important for our earth and community.
Sustainability Origin Story: Sustainability has always been a very important factor in my life. My family always made it a point to practice sustainable efforts and make sure we spend time in nature to truly appreciate it. Being heavily involved in my environmental club in high school and Green Love at SDSU, has helped me show my passion for sustainability. An experience I will never forget is when I tried to help stop a proposed housing plan which would destroy an entire ecosystem in my hometown. This was an eye opening experience and I try to advocate for sustainability as much as I can. As an Advertising major, I hope to promote sustainability to as many people as possible.
