Bio

Hello! As the Green Labs intern, my job is to work with labs on campus to inform them on ways to be more sustainable and to assess and certify their sustainability efforts. My responsibilities include working on flyers and outreach methods, contacting and communicating with lab coordinators, and managing the Green Labs Certification Program. I hope that by informing and certifying more labs on campus, we can help create a culture of sustainable lab practices which ultimately helps both research and the planet.

Sustainability Origin Story: I am originally from a very small town in the mountains of Puebla, Mexico! There I grew up on a ranch, surrounded by animals, trees, fresh air, and beautiful mountain wilderness. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and its powerful balance. My family and fellow townspeople taught me all the ways that we can use nature to help sustain us, and in turn how we can help nature. So, sustainability and taking care of the environment has always been a part of my life. These sustainable practices fueled my curiosity to learn more about the systems of the planet and how we can use them to help sustain us and to protect the planet. I hope to someday help translate those practices I learned in the mountains as a kid, from small town practice to a larger global scale practice, to protect our environment!
