Jordyn Savard at San Diego State University’s ZIP Launchpad is helping students turn their ideas into meaningful change. As the Events and Outreach Lead, Savard plays a key role in planning all internal and external events across campus, including the 2026 Social Venture Challenge.

The Social Venture Challenge is a student pitch competition focused on solving real world issues. Students from various colleges and universities across Southern California present their solutions to major social challenges. For the past two years, students have been challenged to identify a significant problem related to the impact of food security in our region and develop an innovative solution that results in a scalable, mission-driven social venture. Participants present their ideas and have a chance to win up to $35,000 to turn their concepts into real life change.

Savard started her journey with ZIP Launchpad when she first arrived at SDSU. She was initially drawn to SDSU because of the entrepreneurship and sustainability opportunities throughout campus and discovered ZIP Launchpad. She became the Social Innovation Intern and was involved throughout her entire time at SDSU.

Savard is passionate about encouraging others to think sustainably and reduce waste, and hopes to continue pursuing roles that create positive environmental and social impact.

“Knowing that I'm working towards something that is beneficial to people and to the environment has become an important aspect of what I look for in a role and company,” says Savard.

This mindset continues to shape her professional journey and passion for sustainability focused initiatives. Through her leadership, Savard helps build a culture of sustainable entrepreneurship while supporting students in achieving their goals.
