Green Office Certification Program
Welcome to SDSU Green Office!
Our Green Office Certification Program (GOCP) is an SDSU program that rewards certificates to sustainable offices on campus and helps reduce participating offices’ environmental impact. An office receives either a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum certification based on its sustainability practices, which are evaluated in collaboration with our Green Office student assistant.
Along with our Green Office Program, the Office of Energy and Sustainability offers a compost program for offices on campus that produce food waste.
Why is it important?
Although often overlooked, the office environment significantly contributes to carbon emissions via energy use, waste generation, and transportation. Recognizing this impact, the GOCP aims to implement strategies in office spaces to minimize ecological footprints and promote sustainable practices in daily operations.
How it works:
After submitting the Green Office Certification Program Interest form, our Green Office student assistant will reach out to your office representative, or "Green Champion," to assist them in completing the self-assessment process. Following this, your office will be assigned a score reflecting its sustainability efforts, along with identified areas for improvement. This score determines whether your office qualifies for a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum 2-year certification, which will be featured on our website alongside other offices committed to advancing sustainability initiatives.
