Welcome to SDSU Green Labs!
We're dedicated to reducing resource consumption in laboratory settings through both physical and behavioral changes. Our program encourages labs to adopt sustainable practices by implementing our self-assessment initiative to recognize exceptional efforts in campus laboratories.
Did you know?
Laboratories can consume up to five times more energy than regular office spaces! This is largely due to high-energy appliances and unsustainable practices. Our goal is to promote environmental and economic sustainability at SDSU through conscious decision-making and focused education.
GLAB Certification Process
Our Green Labs intern guides laboratories through the self-assessment process and awards certifications based on their sustainability efforts. This rating reflects the lab's sustainability level for that semester and helps identify areas for improvement. Becoming Green Labs certified is a straightforward process that requires minimal time but can make a significant impact on campus energy usage. If your lab is interested in getting Green Labs certified, simply fill out our interest form.

Kaylen Wilson, from San Diego State University’s Environmental Health Lab run by Dr. Eunha Hoh, led the achievement of gold level certification through My Green Lab®! This certification is gained when a lab implements sustainable initiatives and makes gradual changes in their work to create a more environmentally friendly work area. Read More
Congratulations to the House Lab, who earned a Platinum GLAB certification! The House Lab, led by sustainability ambassadors Mikella Robinson and Megan Keene, earned this award by excelling in the "Resource Management", "Infrastructure Energy", and "Innovation", components of the self assessment.
