Bio

"As one of the Food and Compost Interns, I work to oversee and maintain our Campus Composting Program (CCP). I assist with weekly compost pickups from participating offices around campus and am excited to find new opportunities for collaboration and expansion of the program. One of my main goals for this year is to increase engagement, education, and accessibility on composting and food waste initiatives while developing resources for staff and students to get involved. I am driven by a mission to build a better future through adopting an interdisciplinary approach, integrating environmental, social, and economic factors into sustainable solutions."

Sustainability Origin Story: "In 2017, my family and I were evacuated from our home in the middle of the night and faced the threat of nearby wildfire every subsequent year of my high school career, bringing the reality of the climate crisis to my own local community. After witnessing both the social and environmental effects of such disasters, and also noticing the heightened frequency of these events, I felt compelled to learn more and get involved in the fight for our planet. My senior year of high school, I enrolled in my first Environmental Science course while concurrently volunteering with 350 Bay Area’s Youth Mobilizing Team, which inspired me to pursue a degree in Sustainability at SDSU. Since moving to San Diego in 2021, I have had opportunities to deepen my knowledge and passion for the subject through coursework, working with local nonprofits, and studying abroad and plan to continue my work in this field after graduation."
