Ella Cronin is a sophomore at San Diego State studying Sustainability with a minor in Spanish. Ella is originally from Washington DC and currently serves as a co-chair of Associated Students, Green Love Events Committee.

Ella got involved with Green Love at the beginning of her freshman year. She originally enrolled in SDSU as a communications major but switched to sustainability as she felt it fit her interests better. She was appointed to head of the Events Committee in the spring of 2023. Since then Ella has become more involved in sustainability on campus and grown her passion for the movement.

Sustainability Origin Story
“I am originally from Washington DC. Being surrounded by such a political environment growing up made me eager to support a cause I am passionate about. My family is very down to earth and has shown me the value of nature. A sustainability major fell in line with my interests and upbringing. I like the variety of classes that the sustainability major offers. As I got involved with green love, I became more interested in the topic.”

Events Co-Chair
“I was super excited when I got appointed to co-chair of Green Love. My position is centered around making our member's “dreams” come true. I enjoy my role because it supports all of the other committees and members. I get to bounce around and try new things. I enjoy connecting with other people and expressing my creativity, so executing these kinds of events fits me perfectly. Recently I volunteered and helped with Green Fest events which was great”

Advice
“Sustainability is not rigid- it applies to everything in our lives. I want to encourage people to not feel intimidated. No one knows everything about sustainability, it would be impossible. Sustainability is a process of making efforts and maintaining an open-creative mind. Individuals should take part in the sustainability movement because doing something small is better than nothing. Sustainability is for everyone.”

Thank you to Ella and other campus leaders for showing how individuals have the power to create change and inspire others.
