Bio

I’m Sarah Robinson, the Zero Waste Intern for Sustainable SDSU. I manage the university’s waste and recycling invoices and create reports that track how much waste is produced and how much is divided among trash, recycling, and compost. This data helps SDSU improve their sustainability efforts and reduce costs while making a joint effort working toward a zero-waste campus. Beyond tracking data, I also develop my own creative projects to support sustainability, finding new ways to interpret data, engage students, save money, and make SDSU a more sustainable and educated community.

Sustainability Origin Story:

I’m from the Bay Area and grew up hiking, camping, and in nature, often visiting Yosemite, where my dad once worked as a park ranger. Both of my parents were STEM majors, and my mom is a big environmental activist who loves nature and is teacher. In high school, I discovered my own passion for sustainability through an internship at a local recycling plant and by joining several environmental clubs. This passion has lead me all the way to SDSU! I’m especially interested in water management and plan to work in wastewater treatment to help ensure that everyone has access to clean, safe drinking water.
