Careers & Internships
There is a growing need for students to understand sustainability to succeed in their careers, even for students who do not plan to focus on sustainability endeavors. There are a variety of career paths students can take in the realm of sustainability. These opportunities include conservation and restoration, organizational sustainability management, consulting (including LEED and climate planning), non-profit organizations (like the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy), energy management, green building design, and teaching. To learn more on careers in sustainability, please visit Career Services.
Internships provide an opportunity for students to gain direct experience in sustainability and other endeavors. Since there are a variety of paths sustainability students can take, internships provide a way to see which paths may or may not be a fit. The Sustainability Major has resources on internships related to sustainability. Sustainable SDSU often has internships available; contact [email protected] for more information. EcoReps are also a great way to get involved with Sustainable SDSU.
Career Services has resources to help students find internships or jobs. Another resource for students interested in impactful jobs, internships, or volunteer opportunities is idealist. Using keywords like sustainability, energy, conservation, and environmental, students can also find opportunities on the the resources above or major job search sites.
